It’s like the skateboarding industry spawned a load of cottage industries in the U.K. I wonder what happened when the bubble burst to most of these small firms

i suspect most firms were already manufacturing other things and the skatestuff was a quick cash in extra sideline, something they were already equipped to make without any extra outlay, especially joinery companies who could churn out a load of decks probably from offcuts etc ,they would just go back to their normal stuff after it fizzled out i suppose, likewise the companies who made wheels must have already been in the urethane industry making other stuff,i cant imagine anyone would have set up shop especially to make wheels in the uk

looks like it was drilled for a 3 hole truck on the front but only underneath

not sure if they are woodworm holes in the tail or just markings

i think most joinery workshops that turned their hand to making decks for a bit of extra cash made decent quality stuff,it must have been extremely basic and simple for them, not like making a chest of drawers or a cabinet

like you say though its all down to the brand name,in the early days i used to make my own from pieces of ply from the corner shop.they didnt last long though but cost next to nothing to make
